I can’t tell you how many times I’ve left my thermostat on a low temperature after leaving the house for work in the morning.
I’m always halfway to work, and think, “Drat! My air conditioning is going to send my electric bill through the roof.” A smart thermostat, which can be used to control your HVAC system’s thermostat from anywhere, has been on my wishlist for a while.
Whether I’ve forgotten to turn up the thermostat during the warm months, or turn down the thermostat during the cold months, I always seem to self-sabotage my heating and cooling system’s efficiency. If I had a smart thermostat, I could solve my forgetfulness problem, and I could tell the HVAC equipment to start heating or cooling before I left work for the day, ensuring that I would come home to a comfortable temperature. My smart thermostat could also be a great tool used in tandem with my home security system. I sometimes use my in-house cameras to check in on my cat while I’m at work during the day. My cat gets agitated in the heat, and she’s more likely to scratch up the furniture when she’s on-edge. I sometimes see her doing it on-camera when I’m at my desk and think, “If I had a smart thermostat, I could turn down the heater in the winter or amp up the air conditioning in the summer to save my cat (and my furniture) from the heat.” I’ve already started making my home “smarter” with the security system; my HVAC system needs to be next on the docket for an injection of tech!
