My uncle thinks he is a Mr-fix-it.
Nothing could be further from the truth, everything he touches turns to garbage. Take, for example, his most recent house repair attempt. My aunt and uncle have consistently had these good hardwood floors. Well I know they decided that they would rather have carpeting. My uncle decided he would be the one to install this carpeting. Once it was all done he invited the whole family over to admire his handiwork. I knew it would be exhausting although I didn’t know how exhausting until I saw it. The corners were all chop wrong and then patched with carpet fragments. It was legitimately blatant. He carpeted the bathroom floor. Also he carpeted over the Heating, Ventilation and A/C vents on the floor. I didn’t realize this until the furnace kicked on and I noticed that the carpet started to bow upwards on certain parts of the floor. My father asked his brother if he was going to chop out the vents. My uncle said no. He said the vents were ugly and that he liked it better this way. Then he proceeded to take nails and hammer them around the vents so they wouldn’t bow up. He ruined that good hardwood floor, and besides, rugs are dirty. I can’t imagine having to breath heated air that is being run through a dirty carpet for months on end. That can’t be good for the furnace either. My father tried saying as much however my uncle just ignored him. I can’t wait to see what he does when the furnace breaks down. I bet he tries to fix that himself too.
