Sweaty Bridal Party

Sweaty Bridal Party

Our oldest daughter got married last weekend.

It was a beautiful wedding and she was a stunning bride.

When she found the perfect dress, about two years ago), she tried to take into account that the wedding would be in a barn and we would be at the mercy of the weather. The gown was strappless and we figured she could just put on a coverup if needed. What we didn’t take into account was the fact that it could be almost 90 degrees. The entire bridal party was fighting the sweat that was running down their backs. I would have given anything for even five degrees cooler that day. The venue did have climate control to some extent but with high ceilings and such, even a commercial HVAC unit can’t keep a barn cool. The walls are not insulated as that would take away from the rustic appearance so any heat or air goes right through to the outside. I really felt sorry for our daughter and my husband,(who was wearing a suit), and when the photos were done, they both changed back into regular clothing. It was a good call because at one point I thought our daughter was going to pass out from the heat. When planning an event as big as a wedding, you need time to prepare for it. We had two years to make sure everything was perfect but the only thing we had no control over was the weather. It could have been cold and raw, or hot and sunny. We just hoped for the best when they picked the date.
