When I was in university, I was lucky enough to get accepted into a luxury dormitory.
- I was one of three roommates, however my good friend and I each got our own living room plus there was a official study room, kitchen, plus powder room! Most of my friends who attended the same school were stuck in a traditional dorm that was the size of my personal living room.
They also had to share a powder room with an entire floor of people. There were a lot of benefits to staying in that luxury dormitory, however the one negative was that pretty much everyone in the room had to share the temperature control settings. There was one temperature control that controlled the entire dorm plus each of us had a different temperature preference. I liked to sleep in a cooler environment, however one of the other men liked to sleep with the heat on. The third roommate liked to sleep in a lukewarm temperature, so he didn’t cherish either of our temperature settings. During the day, I thought it made sense to keep the temperature control set to 69 degrees, because there was no sense in cooling a dorm that nobody was in… We were all away at class anyway… Each of us would alter the temperature settings whenever the other two roommates weren’t around. The heating system plus air conditioning were constantly being turned on plus off plus nobody was ever really comfortable while they slept. I’m thankful I didn’t have to pay for that utility bill, because I’m sure it was outrageous.
