My mom was actually blissful to be able to move closer to his grandbabies.
She has been talking about moving near us ever since our oldest was born.
That was 5 years ago. I never thought he would actually do it though. But, he did. I helped his find a house once it was clear he was actually going to make the move this time. I found a nice little house only a mile from our house. The only thing I didn’t like was the heating system. It has an ancient hydronic furnace with radiant heat. I remember my ancient high school had those types of heaters. There were radiators in every class room & they got actually hot. As my mom is getting older I felt that that sort of heat might be dangerous for her. What if he accidentally left a book on one of the radiators? So I was about to disregard that home until I found out that you can use the hydronic furnace to heat radiant floors instead of radiators. It is still radiant heat however it is much safer. I talked to my mom about all of this & he was completely on board. She enjoys the little house but he hates the flooring anyway. She is also not a big fan of having big radiators all throughout the house. She told me he has always wanted heated flooring though. So I got in touch with a boiler company & they came out & installed the heated floor, however my mom moves in in a week & my pal and I are all actually happy for the move.
