My mom was really happy to be able to move closer to her grandbabies.
She has been talking about moving near us ever since our oldest was born.
That was 5 years ago. I never thought she would actually do it though. But, she did. I helped her find a house once it was clear she was actually going to make the move this time. I found a nice little house only a mile from our house. The only thing I didn’t like was the heating system. It has an old hydronic heater with radiant heat. I remember my old high school had those types of heaters. There were radiators in every class room and they got really hot. As my mom is getting older I felt that that sort of heat might be dangerous for her. What if she accidentally left a book on one of the radiators? So I was about to disregard that home until I found out that you can use the hydronic heater to heat heated floors instead of radiators. It is still radiant heat but it is much safer. I talked to my mom about all of this and she was completely on board. She loves the little house but she hates the flooring anyway. She is also not a big fan of having big radiators all throughout the house. She told me she has always wanted heated flooring though. So I got in touch with a boiler company and they came out and installed the heated floor. My mom moves in in a week and we are all very excited for the move.
