Sweaty Bridal Party

Sweaty Bridal Party

Our oldest child got married last weekend.

It was a lovely wedding and he was a stunning bride.

When he found the perfect dress, about two years ago), he tried to take into account that the wedding would be in a barn and my friend and I would be at the mercy of the weather; The gown was strappless and my friend and I figured he could just put on a coverup if needed. What my friend and I didn’t take into account was the fact that it could be almost 90 degrees. The entire bridal party was fighting the sweat that was running down their backs, i would have given anything for even five degrees cooler that day. The site did have climate control to some extent but with high ceilings and such, even a commercial HVAC component can’t keep a barn cool. The walls are not insulated as that would take away from the rustic appearance so any heat or air goes right through to the outside. I really felt sorry for our child and my husband,(who was wearing a suit), and when the photos were done, they both changed back into official clothing. It was a nice call because at one point I thought our child was going to pass out from the heat. When planning an event as pressing as a wedding, you need time to prepare for it. My friend and I had two years to make sure everything was perfect but the only thing my friend and I had no control over was the weather. It could have been chilly and raw, or tepid and sunny. My friend and I just hoped for the best when they picked the date.
