Ever since I was just a little girl, I dreamed of designing and building my own home.
- I do not know why it appealed to me so much to build my own house, but it did.
My mom used to encourage me to sketch out what I wanted my house to look like. Although it has changed in various ways throughout the years, the one thing that I have consistently wanted in my loft was a wood stove. The idea of having a wood stove came from my friend, Sarah. Her family had a wood burning stove as their main source of heat, and I used to love going over to their house just to smell the wood burning stove. It filled the house with an amazing fragrance. I am so thankful that I married a person that had the same dreams of building a house that I had. My good friend and I started building a year before my friend and I were married, and the house was just completed a few months ago. My good friend and I came across quite a few obstacles along the way, but it was worth it in the end. I do not know if I would ever do it again or if I would even request to someone else to build their own house, but I am thrilled that my friend and I did. I did end up going with a wood stove as our main source of heat in our current home. I was so sure of it my whole life, but when it came down to it, I unquestionably hesitated a little bit. I knew splitting wood would be a lot of work, but in the end, my friend and I went for it. My husband said that he unquestionably enjoys splitting wood, so hopefully all will go well.
