My husband, Todd, and I have been living in the same house for over twenty years now, and we do not ever plan on moving.
- After the children moved out, we thought about moving, but we decided that we loved our house too much to move.
The only thing we do not like about living here is the high levels of humidity, especially during the hot, summer months. We have air conditioning of course, so that takes care of much of the humidity in the house, but it still gets quite humid in the house during the summer months. The kitchen and upstairs are the worst for humidity. We bought three dehumidifiers about seven years ago, and we used them 24/7during the summertime. We put one in the kitchen, one in the upstairs bathroom, and one in our bedroom. They really do make a huge difference. The bathrooms actually dry completely after someone showers, and the kitchen does not feel sticky 24/7 when I use the dehumidifiers. We had a very bad storm back about a month ago, and lightning hit our house. Somehow when it hit our house, it fried our dehumidifier in our bedroom. I do not know exactly how it could have happened and neither does my husband, but our dehumidifier no longer works. My husband does not sleep very well when the bedroom is humid, so we will definitely have to get a new dehumidifier for our bedroom soon. I just cannot believe that lightening ruined our dehumidifier. It is sort of cool when you think about it.
